Under the Covers: Beck Finkel (Founder, Puff Life Store)
Design has always been my first love. Interiors, objects, art, the way a space or product can shift how you feel or completely envelop you. I live and breathe it. Product design is my sweet spot, where creativity and craft meet function. There’s truly nothing I’d rather be doing.
Before starting a family, my career was in construction and project management. It was a grounding in structure, function, and process the kind of hands on experience that shaped the technical mindset I still carry into design today.
After children, I wanted to extend my skills creatively and immerse myself fully in the design world. I gained my qualifications in Interior Design, which opened dream doors to work alongside some of Australia’s most celebrated studios. I always knew design would lead me to create something of my own, even if it would take years before I discovered what that really was.
The earliest hints of Puff trace back to 2015, when I worked at one of Australia’s benchmarks for premium handcrafted bedding. I saw down being sourced, quilts hand-filled, and the technical processes behind them. I was captivated. More than anything, I remember the look on people’s faces when they experienced that kind of sleep for the first time.. the comfort, the cosiness, the quiet joy.
The idea stayed with me, quietly growing stronger. I began designing, researching, experimenting conjuring ways I might one day bring that same magic into a brand of my own. Over time, the vision sharpened: ethically sourced materials, a design-led aesthetic, an accessible premium offering, and a playful sensibility that keeps comfort from ever feeling ordinary.
That vision is now Puff. A synthesis of everything I’ve learned and lived, crafted with care, designed to last and always underpinned by conscience. Puff is comfort elevated but also a joyful, dreamlike world with an irresistible calling to rest, soften and sink into cloud-like comfort.
And close by through it all is Betsy, my shadow and occasional campaign star. She’s a quiet nod to what Puff is really about warmth, loyalty and the kind of comfort that never leaves your side.
