The Ultimate Puff Guide to Cloud Maintenance
How do you actually wash a doona? Easy. Youβve got Puff. We obsess over loft so you donβt have to. This is the clear, no-fuss method to keep your cloud lofty and lovely for years to come straight from the people who make it.
Skip the folklore. Follow the steps below. Itβs simple, it works, and itβs kinder to your doona.
From First Fluff to First Airing
When your Puff first arrives, release it from its Puffle and give it a generous shake. Down needs space to unfurl after shipping. Lay it flat across your bed and let it breathe. Within hours it will begin to bloom back to its natural loft. By the first night, youβll feel the difference.
The Regular Rituals
After the initial fluff, continue with the below regular care tips below.
βοΈ Morning Shake
Each morning give your doona a shake to redistribute clusters into the corners and edges.
βοΈ Weekly Air
Once a week, air it natural light preferably a breezy spot for 30β60 minutes. Β Avoid harsh sun.
βοΈ Spot Clean
For minor marks, carefully blot with a clean white damp cloth or sponge. Do not rub. Let it dry fully before covering.

When to Wash (and When Not To)
As a guide, plan for a full wash every 12 months. Wash sooner only if thereβs visible soiling or a significant spill.
Donβt wash out of habit. If your doona still looks fresh and performs beautifully, stick to daily fluffing, weekly airing and spot cleaning.
Covers and sheets should take the brunt of frequent laundering. Gradual yellowing over time is usually from body oils which would be your cue for a full wash and thorough dry.

- Use a medium spin speed.
- Dry immediately on a long warm cycle.
- Every 30 minutes, pause, shake out the doona, and return it to the dryer until fully dry.
- Finish with a tennis ball in the dryer for 10 minutes on hot to restore loft.

β Do not dry clean. Chemicals will break down and damage down.Β
β No bleach, softeners or whitening detergents.
β Do not iron
Β
Storage: The Puffle Way
For short breaks, fold or roll your doona loosely and rest it in the Puffle away from heat and direct sunlight.
For off-season storage, start with a doona that is freshly aired (or washed if due) and completely dry. Store loosely in the breathable Puffle, never in plastic tubs, never long-term vacuum compression.
Keep in a cool, dry place with airflow and avoid stacking heavy items on top.
Β
Troubleshooting
FlatterΒ spots are usually solved by a quick morning shake or a short, lowβheat tumble dry with a tennis ball.Β
Clumps after washing and drying mean the quilt wasnβt fully dried through. Return to the dryer and keep on warm to hot cycle until throughly dry.Β

Why Puff Cares
We design for deep comfort longevity. Loft lives in the tiny spaces between down clusters; heat and humidity collapse those spaces and harsh, too frequent washing strips natural oils and cramped storage crushes structure. Gentle, sensible care protects what you actually bought: that premium cloud-like, weightless warmth. βοΈ
